Therapy

Picture
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process.  At the heart of therapy is the professional relationship between you and your therapist.   This relationship is built on trust and in a safe and confidential environment.

My goal as your therapist is to help you with your goals.   You may come to therapy wanting to feel better, to develop more effective coping skills, improve  the quality of your life, or heal from emotional pain.  Perhaps you are stuck and need help to get unstuck.   I can help.  You will find my style warm, sensitive, genuine, non-judgmental, insightful, caring, direct and honest.  Together we will work to help you reach your goals and improve your life.

Types of therapy
I am currently offering telemental health services in response to Covid-19 recommendations

I am able to offer a range of psychiatric and psychotherapy services.   The psychotherapies include emotion-focused therapies and mindfulness-based therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); compassion-focused therapy,  cognitive processing therapy, interpersonal therapy and supportive therapy.   I also offer psychotherapy incorporating horses using the EAGALA Model.   For more on equine-related therapies please see www.knowinghorse.com .

My past work as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner gives me insight into the interconnectedness of physical and mental health across a woman's lifespan.  In addition to mindfulness-based & equine-assisted psychotherapies, I specialize in women's mood disorders including depression, anxiety and adjustment issues in women across the lifespan (perinatal, postpartum, motherhood, perimenopause).  I also specialize in emotional dysregulation, am intensive trained in DBT, and provide individual DBT therapy and co-lead a DBT skills group.

When indicated I can offer new and continuing prescriptions based on an assessment of your needs and response to current treatments.
